Senior Center Hosts Free Booster Clinic

The Senior Center is hosting a free Covid mRNA booster vaccination clinic this Friday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment. To be eligible for the second booster an individual must be over 50 and more than four months past their first booster.

The positivity rate for Middlesex County is currently 6.33%, however this is only reflective of PCR tests; the actual positivity rate is likely to be higher as many people continue to use home antigen testing.

Vaccine effectiveness wanes over time, making people more susceptible to serious illness and death from Covid. The goal of the booster is to enhance the immune system’s response to the virus. Covid vaccines have been shown in many different studies to be safe, effective and reduce the risk of hospitalizations and death.

In addition to those 50 years of age and older, a second mRNA booster is approved for those 12+ with certain types of immunosuppression as well as for those who originally received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine with a Johnson & Johnson booster; however these groups are not addressed on the flier.

For questions on eligibility or to book an appointment, please call  978-640-4480, Ext. 303.
