Senior Briefs: Foxwoods Trip This Week, Silvertones Return, Gift Shop On Chandler

Two years is a long time, but bus trips to Foxwoods are starting up again. This Thursday, April 21, a bus will be leaving from the Senior Center, making its way to the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Seating is limited, so those who are interested are advised to reserve their seats today.

The bus will leave the Senior Center at 7:00 a.m. and will return to the parking lot by 7:00 p.m. The cost is $40 per person, and tickets may be purchased at the Senior Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Sorry to say that Foxwoods is no longer offering “extras” to groups.

The Silvertones are ready to start the season with their Spring Dance on Friday, April 29 , from 7 -10 p.m.

Come and enjoy the sweet sounds of the big band era. This talented group of musicians have been entertaining us for over 20 years. That’s right, the Silvertones are in the 20th season of providing a mix of music from the 30’s and 40’s, waltzes, Latin, foxtrots, jitterbug and the ever-popular line dances.

Whether you are a dancer or just enjoy listening to big band style sounds, you will have a wonderful evening. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Soda and bottled water will be available for purchase,; coffee/tea and cake are served during the break.

Come on down and you just might have some fun.

Do you need a special gift? Don’t forget about the Gift Shop on Chandler. This eclectic little shop is tucked away in a corner of the Senior Center at 175 Chandler Street here in Tewksbury.

Let the volunteers assist you in finding the perfect gift! Say thank you to that neighbor who helped you with the snow shoveling during the winter. Find just the right earrings for your granddaughter’s birthday (and maybe a pair for yourself). Gift bags and tissue are complimentary with your purchase.

Don’t forget to look at the many accessories to go with your new spring and summer outfits, hand bags scarves and sunglasses too. Don’t miss the home décor items, you’re going to be surprised.

The Shop is open Monday-Friday  9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
