Tewksbury Weekend Happenings for Feb. 4

The Tewksbury Weekend Happenings column is back thanks to a new collaboration between the Carnation and Tewksbury Connected.

There might be sleet outside, but it’s time to plan ahead for summer camps.

UPDATE: TMHS Theater Company Forbidden Broadway
When: Saturday and Sunday, Feb 5 and 6

Due to school being canceled on Friday, the date and time has been changed for Friday, Feb 4th’s show. The show is now scheduled for Sunday, Feb 6 at 2 p.m. There is also a show on Saturday,  Feb 5 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 can be purchased at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/60040

***please note if you have already purchased tickets for Fridays show those can be used to attend either the Saturday’s OR Sunday’s performance. At the Sunday show the ticket can be used for the seat originally purchased. For Saturday’s show they will be seating as space allows.

More Hidden Treasures Of Boston
When: Friday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m.

Get an inside look at some of Boston’s hidden treasures from popular Boston tour guide Jay Bazzinotti. A Corporal in the First New Hampshire Regiment of Revolutionary War re-enactors, Jay will appear in full uniform to talk about some of the little known landmarks and monuments in the Boston area. Much of the city’s rich and fascinating history is invisible not just to the casual visitor, but also to those who have lived here all their lives.

Film Screening: Respect
When:
Friday, Jan. 28, doors open at 1:15 p.m.
Where: Tewksbury Senior Center Library. Registration required

Enjoy a screening of Respect, a biographical drama starring Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker. Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, Respect is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice. PG-13. 145 minutes..

Registration required. Limited to 20 seats. No candy & water will be served for the time being. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library and Tewksbury Lions Club.

Keene NH Ice & Snow Festival
When: Saturday,  Feb 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Downtown Keene NH

Ice carvers, snow sculptures, children’s train ride, snow slide, cartoons at the new showroom theatre, campfire smores, sugar on snow, sidewalk sales, find the Yetis scavenger hunt & free signature hot chocolate stations, face painting & more!

Open Studios at Western Ave
When: Saturday,  Feb 5, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: 122 Western Ave, Lowell

Mini Valentine’s Craft Fair. Over 50 makers in store and hundreds of items! Seven local makers popping up with tables full of handmade items.

Where: Open Space Gift Shop & Creative Studio

Join us for a Mini Valentine’s Craft Fair and do some shopping of various unique and handmade items! Our gift shop has over 50 makers in store and hundreds of items! We’ll have 7 local makers popping up with tables full of handmade items.

Used Book sale to support the Lowell Humane Society

Summer Camp & Kids Activities Fair
When: Sun, Feb. 6, noon
Where: Westford Regency Inn and Conference Center, 219 Littleton Rd, Westford, MA, 01886

Local parents looking for information on summer camps and kids’ activities will find plenty of resources at the Summer Camp & Kids Activities Fair in Westford on Sunday, February 6. The Summer Camp Fair will take place at the Westford Regency, 219 Littleton Road, Westford from 12-3 PM on February 6th.

Coordinated by Lowell Macaroni Kid, the Fair is free to attend. Families can gather information and talk with representatives from local and overnight camps and summer programs as well as local schools offering year-round activities such as sports, STEM, coding, art and more. Please note that masks are required at the Fair, per town mandate.

Camps exhibiting at the 2022 Camp Fair include local favorites such as The Kids League of Westford, Teamworks Adventure Camp, Camp Tahattawan, Camp Grotonwood and Camp Massapoag as well as specialty and overnight camps such as Code Wiz, 4-H Camp Middlesex, Camp Hawkeye and more. Lowell Macaroni Kid also has an online Summer Camp Guide on its website (https://Lowell.MacaroniKid.com) as a resource for parents who cannot attend the Camp Fair. If you’re unable to attend the February 6th fair, there will be another Camp Fair at Teamworks Acton, 30 Great Rd, Acton on Sunday, March 6, from 1:30-4 PM and also at the Westford Regency on Sunday, April 3, from 12-3 PM.
