Due to the pandemic, Alternative House will not host its annual winter “Sweet Valentine” fundraising event in person. Instead, the nonprofit is holding a virtual Online Basket Raffle. All proceeds go to support Alternative House’s Love Shouldn’t Hurt campaign.

Alternative House, based in Lowell, serves the Merrimack Valley and beyond with shelter, support, children’s programming, legal aid, housing and community advocacy for all victims of domestic violence and their children.
In 2021, the agency served 906 clients, up from 595 in 2020. Staff fielded 341 hotline calls and housed 52 survivors of domestic violence, up from 278 and 37, respectively.
Alternative House relies on both government funding and private donations. The agency was the first recipient of Tewksbury’s 100 People Who Care $10,000 impact award, and Tewksbury businesses and organizations including Susan Amato of Angelina’s continue to support this great cause.
The raffle will be held online through Feb. 28, 2022. Winners will be randomly selected by computer on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
