What To Know in Tewksbury the Week of Jan. 23

Tickets are now available for the TMHS Theater Company production of Forbidden Broadway. Performances are February 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. in the TMHS Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online for $10 or at the door.

Breakfast for Dinner to Benefit the FoTPL
When: Monday, Jan. 24, 3 – 7 p.m.
Where: Vic’s Waffle House

Vic’s Waffle House will be open for special evening hours, with a percentage of sales as well as proceeds from raffles going to benefit the Library. If you plan to drop in, feel free to call ahead — (978) 640-9610 — to get your name on the list for seating. This is a dine-in event, no takeout or delivery. THANK YOU Vic’s for opening at night (something it never does) to support The Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library!

Historical Commission Meeting
When: Monday, Jan. 24, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Town Hall

The Tewksbury Historical Commission is charged with the “preservation, protection, and development of the historical or archaeological assets” of the town of Tewksbury. This month’s meeting will include discussion of a history wall and exhibit planned for the new elementary school, proposed changes to the town center and the historic home at 30 East St. that’s the site of a proposed mixed-use development. Finance Committee
When: Monday, Jan. 24, 7:00 p.m.
Where: This is a virtual meeting. Residents may dial in.

Select Board Meeting
When: Tuesday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m.

Work From The Inside Out: From Survival to Fulfillment with Tammy Gooler Loeb
When: Tuesday, Jan. 25, 7 – 8 p.m.

Join us for the launch of Career Executive Coach Tammy Gooler Loeb’s new book, “Work from the Inside Out: Break Through Nine Common Obstacles and Design a Career That Fulfills You.” In this interactive session, Tammy will identify many of the common fears that hold people back from pursuing more satisfying occupations, and explore the ways in which they can step into more meaningful career options. Presented in collaboration with libraries in Ashland and Newton.

Mad Science: SNOW!

This month, we will be looking at the science of snow! This event is designed for kids in grades 2-5. A video will be posted at YouTube.com/TewksburyLib at the listed time of the program. Bags can be picked up the day of the program and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How To Improve The Quality Of Your Sleep
When: Thursday, Jan. 27, 7 – 8 p.m.

Sleep researcher Dr. Wendy Troxel will discuss the importance of sleep and offer advice on how to improve your sleep quality. Dr. Troxel is a senior behavioral and social scientist at the RAND Corporation and an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Utah. She is the author of Sharing the Covers: Every Couple’s Guide to Better Sleep and has given two TEDx Talks: “Why School Should Start Later for Teens” and “How to Sleep Like Your Relationship Depends on It.” 

Film Screening: The Last Duel
When: Friday, Jan. 21, doors open at 1:15 p.m.
Where: Senior Center Library. Registration required

Enjoy a screening of The Last Duel, a historical action drama starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, and Ben Affleck. King Charles VI declares that Knight Jean de Carrouges settle his dispute with his squire by challenging him to a duel. Rated R. 152 minutes.

Registration required. Limited to 20 seats. No candy & water will be served for the time being. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library and Tewksbury Lions Club.

Lorna is a U.S. Army veteran and 25-year resident of Tewksbury who has written for organizations ranging from the DIA to InformationWeek to a free weekly in New London that sent her to interview the pastry chef at Foxwoods.
