Tewksbury Weekend Happenings for January 7

The Tewksbury Weekend Happenings column is back thanks to a new collaboration between the Carnation and Tewksbury Connected.

Film Screening At Senior Center: Jungle Cruise
When: Doors open at 1:15 p.m.
Where: Senior Center

Enjoy a screening of Jungle Cruise, an action adventure starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Based on Disneyland’s theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element. Rated PG-13. 127 minutes.  Registration required. Limited to 20 seats for the time being.

NO candy & water will be served for the time being. The film will take place in the Senior Center’s library. Doors will open at 1:15pm. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library and Tewksbury Lions Club.

Tewksbury Girls Basketball Shoe Drive Fundraiser
When: Sat. Jan. 8, 8 a.m. to noon
Where: TMHS main entrance/bus loop

The Tewksbury Girls Basketball League is hosting a shoe drive fundraiser. Donate any gently used pair of shoes: sandals, dress, cleats, sneakers, boots, golf shoes (no spikes). All sizes. No shoes with holes or detaching soles please. Benefits go to scholarships for graduating seniors

Outdoor Winter Survival
When: Sat. Jan 8, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Where: Hathaway Acres, Wilmington

In this intergenerational program, Andrew Prazar from North Shore Wildlife Programs will teach us about what it takes to survive outdoors in winter snow and cold. He will teach us how to build shelters, look for wild edibles, and talk about how to build a small fire. The trailhead for Hathaway Acres is located at the corner of Draper Drive and Evans Drive — please plan to meet there. Wear comfortable winter footwear and dress for the weather. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Massachusetts Bridal & Wedding Expo
When: Saturday & Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Shriners Auditorium
Cost: $10 at door or free with preregistration

National Streetcar Museum
When: Saturday & Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 25 Shattuck St., Lowell
Cost: Adults $3; Seniors and youth ages 3-12 are $2, and children under three are free.

All aboard! Join us at the National Streetcar Museum at Lowell and learn more about the streetcar, more commonly known as the trolley. If you or your group loves railroads, history, transit, and Lowell, this museum is for you! Children will love our interactive exhibits and displays, especially our hands-on activities. Our knowledgeable volunteers will answer any questions you have, and give you a guided tour of our displays if you would like! The average museum visit by families is 45-60 minutes. LEARN MORE.
