Tewksbury Fire Department Collecting Toys for Local Kids

The TFD is currently collecting toys for a program called “Toys For Local Children.” This program allows us to collect toys and distribute to Tewksbury families in need. Families reach out to the department during November and December with their children’s demographics and wants/needs. The team is then able to pull from the donations and match kids with gifts that they are interested in.

According to TFD executive secretary Jeanne Martin, toys can be dropped off at any station in town. There are no restrictions on time, but typically drop-offs happen during the day shift, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Collection boxes are now in TFD lobbies. Toys should be new and unwrapped.

Martin says the team always struggles with older kids. Younger children are much easier to buy for, and they get an abundance of toys for them. For older kids, things like gift cards or art supplies, basketballs and soccer balls are always welcomed.

These posts are from the great organizations around Tewksbury that provide updates to the Carnation.
