The Tewksbury Beautification Committee has set the date for Fall Town Cleanup Day as Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
This event has run since 2014, and last year residents filled at least 205 bags of trash and collected 104 tires.
Residents, individuals and teams who wish to take part should pick up a bag and supplies at Town Hall at any time that morning, sign up for the area they wish to clean, then head out, collect trash and take it to the DPW.
This cleanup day will also offer collection of tires (off rims only) by Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control, because discarded tires are a breeding ground for mosquitoes. In addition, the Epilepsy Foundation will collect clean clothing and accessories; all items must be in reusable condition and bagged.
The Beautification Committee will accepting food pantry donations, and all collections of tires and bagged trash will happen at the DPW, at 999 Whipple Road.
Cleanup day is always a great event, and students who need community service hours are encouraged to participate. Interested residents can sign up here or email the committee at clean.up.tewksbury@gmail.com with any questions.
Teams, scouts, youth and civic group are all welcome!
