Residents gathered early waiting on the procession. The library grounds were bedecked with flags. The procession proceeded down Main St. from the Town Common. Selectman Jay Kelly was on hand . The honor guard comprised Tewksbury Police and Fire personnel as well as VFW and Elks members. Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance. Larissa Gay, daughter of Peter Gay, a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11., and family Emcee and 9-11 Committee Board of Directors member Robert Fowler had TPD Chief Ryan Columbus and Fire Chief Joseph Kearns flip to decide who would speak first. Chief Columbus. Columbus’ address was concise and stressed unity. Chief Kearns. TMHS senior Vanessa Waugh performed “Amazing Grace.” 9-11 Committee Board of Directors member Richard Cuoco. Tewksbury residents came out in force to remember 9-11. TMHS senior Gabriella Navarette performed “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” The kids did a great job during a long ceremony. 9-11 Committee Board of Directors members Jayne Wellman, Brenda Regan and Anne Duncan. A steel beam from the World Trade Center adorns the 9-11 Memorial, which was raised in honor of residents Peter Gay and Peter Hashem, who were on AA flight 11 when it crashed into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. The gazebo now lists all Mass. residents killed that day.
