17+ Things To Know This Week In Tewksbury

The Heavey-Quinn Irish Step Dancers entertained Council on Aging guests Friday night

Following this week’s green ☘️ theme, new Tewksbury business Eco Auto will hold its grand opening on March 17 & 18. Drop into the new dealership specializing in electric vehicles at 623 Main St. from noon to 2 p.m. to learn about EVs and the infrastructure to support them.

The Front Line Initiative received a grant from Winchester Hospital to fund a program called “Building LGBTQ+ Community Visibility and Resiliency,” in partnership with the TDEIAC and the Tewksbury Council on Aging. The first step: Listening sessions to set smart goals, held this week. Prompts are aimed at assessing how welcoming Tewksbury is to LGBTQ+ individuals, what programming would be appealing and more. There is an online session for folks who cannot or do not wish to attend in person, as well as an in-person option. See below for details.

The Board of Health’s monthly meeting, scheduled for March 16, has been canceled. Chair Ray Barry stated that the only agenda item was approval of the February minutes, so the next BoH meeting will now be after the April 1 Town Election and will include a new member — either Kate Bugda Gwilt or George Ferdinand. The BoH is the only contested race.

Note that while there is no in-person early voting, you can vote by mail or absentee. Here’s how, along with deadlines.

At TMHS, the Theater Company is practicing for its production of Beauty and the Beast. The show isn’t until the end of April, but buy your tickets soon because this is sure to have a packed audience for every performance. The TMHS PAC is also seeking new members to help run popular fundraisers like the Applefest Fair and Trivia Night that cover costs for scholarships and senior events like the All Night Long Safe Graduation. Learn more at the PAC’s Facebook page.

Though it is likely the ‘disc golf lesson’ on the back lawn of the library won’t happen due to the pending snow, the article makes it sound like the Town is ‘getting one’ soon which is a bit premature. Just an FYI, this attempted endeavor to put a disc golf course on State Hospital land is in the discu
ssion phase and given red tape and all is not exactly ‘imminent.

Karyn I saw that Rep. Robertson earmarked $150K and was wondering about the status. I’ll update if there is a cancelation.
