The Tewksbury Weekend Happenings column is back thanks to a new collaboration between the Carnation and Tewksbury Connected.
Super Bowl Sunday just feels less … compelling this year. Fortunately, those looking for alternative entertainment and a handmade St. Valentine’s day gift can head up to Chelmsford.
Film Screening: My Salinger Year
When: Friday, Feb. 11, doors open at 1:15 p.m.
Where: Senior Center Library. Registration required
Enjoy a screening of My Salinger Year, a drama starring Margaret Qualley and Sigourney Weaver. A college grad takes a clerical job working for the literary agent of the renowned, reclusive writer J.D. Salinger. Based on the book My Salinger Year by Joanna Smith Rakoff. R. 101 minutes.
Registration required. Limited to 20 seats. No candy & water will be served for the time being. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library and Tewksbury Lions Club.
Heroes & Villains: DC vs. Marvel Trivia Night
When: Friday, Feb. 11, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Zoom, register here
Join us on Zoom to test your knowledge of superheroes & supervillains from Marvel, DC and beyond! (And not all heroes & villains necessarily have “super powers.” See: Batman.) Play solo or organize a team! For security purposes, participants’ videos will be disabled, so no need to worry about having a working webcam to play. The ability to view slides on a screen is all you need for this fantastic trivia fun! Please note that trivia questions are geared towards adults in challenge rating. (If families want to play together, however, there are no “embarrassing” questions or content.)
Girl Scout Cookie Booth
When: Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Where: Donna’s Donuts
Did you know that all proposed new Girl Scout cookie flavors must be approved by the national Girl Scout organization, and the lineup can change each year? But three are perennials: Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos/Peanut Butter Sandwiches and Trefoils/Shortbreads. Come support local Tewksbury Girl Scouts and pick up your favorites. Cookies are $5 per box and make great Super Bowl snacks, too.
Mini Valentine’s Craft Fair
When: Saturday, Feb 12, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Open Space Gift Shop & Creative Studio
Join us for a Mini Valentine’s Craft Fair and do some shopping of various unique and handmade items! Our gift shop has over 50 makers in store and hundreds of items! We’ll have seven local makers popping up with tables full of handmade items.
Virtual Valentine Craft
When: Saturday, Feb 13, 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Watch the video to learn how to make a great craft, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This fun tutorial is aimed at ages 7-11. Bags of supplies will be available in the children’s room on the morning of the event, and are first come, first served. If you aren’t able to get a bag, don’t worry! We try to use materials that you already have or can easily get.
Fundraiser: Committee to Elect Kayla Biagioni-Smith
